The International Cricket Council (ICC) strengths the hand of CABI. Yesterday in Dubai International Cricket Council (ICC) CEO Mr. David Richardson met Mr. G K Mahantesh, President of Cricket Association for the Blind in India and World Blind Cricket Ltd & officials during the 5th ODI Blind Cricket World Cup.
"It is very disappointing because we had planned a show case match of the World Cup in Lahore. Now we have been forced to relocate it to the UAE," Asif Azeem, the media manager of the PBCC, said.
At the meeting yesterday (9th January, 2018), Mr. Mahantesh spoke about the importance of developing blind cricket in India in particular and world in general. He explained the importance of ICC patronage to develop blind cricket globally. They also shared the positive transformation of game contribution to visually impaired in India like getting recognition, government providing cash prizes, job security and civilian awards. He also expressed his views saying “ We will be extremely happy and more than proud to take this to other countries if ICC supports us”.
Mr. David was very positive and expressed his interest to explore all possible ways to support blind cricket across the globe. He will also talk to his other member countries and extend maximum support. He has also confirmed his presence for the upcoming India & Pakistan match which will be played on 12th Jan. As a token of appreciation CABI presented him with a ball and he returned the gesture by giving them ICC ties. Mr. Mahantesh truly believes and hopes that support from the ICC will take blind cricket to next level in terms of reach and awareness.
Away there in Karachi the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council has expressed disappointment at the decision of the Indian government for denying clearance to the national blind team to play the World Cup in Pakistan.
