Protest in Color, Paintbrush, for Syria | রঙে তুলিতে ক্যানভাসে সিরিয়ার প্রতিবাদ

TodayKolkata witnessed a different dusk. An evening where artisans replicated their protest with the stroke of their paintbrushes, charcoals,pastels, palates and canvas. Academy of fine arts, the hub of cultural minds of Bengal was hosting a Summer Show by Montmartre A group of cultural people in it's South Gallery. On the last day of the gala exhibition brush strokes crossed the frame of the canvas and got extended to the road. Watch Video

In protest of the atrocities going on in Syria artists held up their canvas and started painting under the open sky in front of Academy of Fine Arts Kolkata. Internationally acclaimed painter Sanatan Dinda brushed a painting where a child with blood all over his body is seen to be seating on a grenade is presenting a another grenade from which some green leaves are sprouting out.

Famous urban folk singer Mr. Pratul Mukherjee was also present to greet the painters with his musical voice.

Evening at Academy of Fine Ar

  More than 40 artists were present to portray their protest for the distressed children of Syria.
Artists like Deepsikha Das, Debasish Halder, Partha Joardar, Shiba De, Sinjan Mitra and may other famous and acclaimed artists showed their brilliance .

Might be this token cultural protest will have a little or no effect on the bloodshed and the brutal atrocities and mass killing happening out there in Syria. But it will convey a message that this city has not died till day. It has a heart and eyes that cries for the sufferers, for distressed and for  the innocents out there in the greater world. 

আকাদেমি অফ ফাইন আর্টসের সাউথ গ্যালারিতে মমার্ত এর সামার শো এর কিছু ছবি এগুলি। গত ২০ থেকে ২৬ শে মার্চ ২০১৮ চলা এই প্রদর্শনীর আজ ছিল শেষ দিন। আজ শেষের দিনটা প্রথিতযশা শিল্পীরা সেলিব্রেট করলেন একটু অন্য ভাবে। সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে সিরিয়ায় শিশুদের ওপর ঘটে চলা নিপীড়ন, নির্যাতন , হত্যা ও ধ্বংসলীলার ছবি  স্বুস্থ স্বাভাবিক মানুষকে নাড়িয়ে দিয়েছে। সংবেদনশীল শিল্পীমন কিভাবে দূরে থাকতে পারেন। তাই আজ  ৪০ এরও বেশি শিল্পী তাঁদের প্রতীকী প্রতিবাদ জানালেন সিরিয়ায় ঘটে চলা বর্বরতার বিরুদ্ধে। রং তুলি,পেন্সিল ,ইজেল প্যালেট ,ক্যানভাসে বোমা,গুলি, বারুদ, মিসাইলের মোকাবিলা হয়তো করতে পারবে না।  কিন্তু একটা বার্তা হয়তো পাঠানো গেল যে এ শহর রুখে দাঁড়াতে জানে, নিপীড়িত মানুষ ,অসহায় শিশু, বিপন্ন কৈশোরের অভিমানে অশ্রুসিক্ত হতে জানে। প্রসঙ্গতঃ এই প্রদর্শনী তে বিহেভরিয়াল আর্ট এর ওপর শিল্পী সনাতন দিন্দার ইনস্টলেশনটি আপনাকে নাড়া দেবে , অনেক প্রশ্নের মুখোমুখি দাঁড় করাবে।
